GF-H -sponsored English language courses

In accordance with the guidelines of “Richtlinien Garantiefonds Hochschulbereich (RL-GF-H)”, young recognised refugees and late re-settlers who have successfully passed a German language test at the C1 level of the CEFR qualify for support for the pursuit of intensive English language courses.

Support to participate in intensive English language courses is aimed at GF-H participants who want to study at a German university or university of applied sciences and who, due to qualifications obtained abroad, are authorised to be directly accepted to university, but have no or only a poor command of the English language. The English language courses will bring participants to level B1/B2 of the CEFR in five to eight months. For further information, contact the GF-H educational guidance centres.

Support can be granted for intensive English courses which meet specific criteria. These criteria are listed in this section of the menu under “Information for language course providers”. For intensive English courses, the listed criteria apply, with the exception of items 2 and 10; in addition, rather than level C1 CEFR for German courses, Level B1/B2 applies to English language courses.

The award of support for language course includes course fees and an individually calculated GF-H allowance. Applicants living with their parents prior to the commencement of the course and who can conveniently reach the course location will not receive any living expenses support (see menu item "Sponsorships" or contact your GF-H educational guidance centre for further information).
